My name is Samuel H. Besalel (call me Sami). I am a writer, editor, consultant, IT professional, and graphic designer. I make my living as a professional communicator and technologist.
Welcome to my web portal, where I discuss hobbies, virtually host professional samples of my work, and link to websites for visual and language artists and other sites of interest including geneology. I even offer a weblog ("blog") with home-grown articles of interest.

With over 25 years experience, I have a strong background as a senior technical writer and editor, senior policy writer, senior content manager and as a documentation specialist.
I also enjoy writing poetry, essays, feature articles, and short fiction.
So as to not over-balance this site, here I will simply describe the various writing projects to my credit, and link to a separate Writing Samples page for details and for an extended Publications list.
My professional writing career has spanned government, commercial, and non-profit industries, with experience in healthcare, financial, and telecom verticals. I also have writing, editing, content development experience in education and software.
I have leveraged Instructional Systems Design to create award-winning curriculum for a top-five US software company as well as training courses and content for government contracts.
While attending Cornell University, I also wrote guest feature and op-ed articles for the city of Ithaca, New York's newspaper, the Cornell Daily Sun.
Continue to the Writing Samples page for examples of technical or policy documentation for which I was the primary or sole contributor.

Back in 1998, I built a website for my father, Ely Besalel, to showcase his award-winning commercial art in various categories and media.
His being a visual artist was a big inspiration for me, and when I was younger I fancied myself an artist. (It turns out the ability skipped a generation, but my eldest's work is equally inspiring.)
Although Ely passed away in 2017, his impressive work lives on. In his honor and memory I am proud to continue to let people browse his legacy artwork website. Check out his work at Ely Besalel.
To see the work of other great artists in the family, browse through the other Art links below.

The Hebrew term L'dor Va'dor means "from generation to generation." It represents a firm responsibility to pass on knowledge and cultural experience from one generation to the next, parent to child, including chosen family.
With this in mind, following is the public family tree for the Besalel family on Ancestry.com. This tree represents ten years of manual work by my father, Ely Besalel, that I then took over and restarted several times as technologies changed and evolved. It is a work in progress. And because I had both a mother and a father, I attempt to show both branches.
On my mother's side, my great uncle Isaac (Dado) Telias married Anna Ouriel. That makes us cousins with the Ouriel family through the Zacharia, Calef, Appelbaum branches. And I'm lucky enough to be in touch with some of those cousins, so we also have access to the Ouriel family tree.
Following is a link to the public Kenneth Ouriel Family tree on Ancestry.com:

I enjoy mountain biking, racquetball, and hiking as physical activities.
Perhaps my biggest joy is reading and writing. I collect and read comic books and enjoy writing poetry and essays. As I plan to publish some poetry works, watch this space for links.
I also intend to expand this page to include links to fellow writers.
